Designed by Barbara J. Eikmeier for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. Released Spring 2015. Prints in the collection: 20
About the collection: Vintage Shirting & Dress Prints take us back in time - to the turn of the century and an era of home sewing, where the scraps from sewing for a family found their way into quilts. Today these cotton fabrics are reproduced in the colors popular in the 1880s to the early 1900s: indigo, claret, cadet blue, black mourning prints, and the versatile, white or cream shirting prints, used to make articles of clothing for both men and women.
Carefully replicated from authentic fabrics discovered in vintage quilts and quilt tops from the era, Vintage shirting & Dress Prints are 100% reproduced in the United States of America and proudly printed on US grown cotton.
"Vintage Sampler" - a block of the month program for quilt shops, was inspired by the random block sampler quilts of the same time period. It showcases the entire collection of Vintage Shirting & Dress Prints.

Waddington Road Primitives
Designed by Barbara J. Eikmeier for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. Released Fall 2016.Prints in the collection: 27
About the collection: Waddington Road Primitives celebrates grandmothers. The warm colors with rich tones in small prints are reminiscent of aprons and chair cushions, clothespin bags and house dresses, picket fences, apple cake, and marmalade on toast served with weak tea.
Grandma's house was on Waddington Road. A two story house in the country, it had a wide side porch - perfect for family pictures. A white picket fence, paint peeling, wrapped around the tidy yard where lilies, roses and snapdragons grew. Inside the tall grey house lived my very short grandma - her treadle sewing machine in the dining room, something tasty in the oven, a row of bright colored pressed glass goblets in the window sparkled with the afternoon light. For me all these things come to mind with Waddington Road. For you the road has a different name and the images are your own memories, but for most of us, there's a warm feeling when we think of our grandmothers. May Waddington Road Primitives take you home to grandma's house.
Painting of the Waddington Store by Dora Casanove Damon. Used with permission from the Ferndale Museum.

Manzanita Grove
Designed by Barbara J.Eikmeier for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. Released 2018Prints in the collection: 10
About the collection: Manzanita Grove celebrates traditional red and green prints from the mid to late 1800s. Inspired by appliqued and pieced quilts from the era the collection includes bottle green, turkey red, double pink, chrome yellow and a bright blue often referred to as Lancaster blue. Reproduced from bits of fabric salvaged from vintage blocks the collection includes a dramatic iris print and small scale companion prints with motifs reminiscent of the berries, leaves and bell shaped blossoms found in the manzanita groves scattered in the Pacific foothills from Oregon to Mexico.
An evergreen shrub, the manzanita demonstrates nature’s talent in combining colors - in spring the tiny pink blossoms against the awakening landscape delights the senses, while in fall and winter the glossy green leaves and brilliant red wood of the trunk and twisted branches cause us to pause and admire nature’s handiwork. Set the red and green against a bright blue sky with a backdrop of the golden sundried grasses of summer and you get the inspiration for my Manzanita Grove fabric collection.
Combined with a selection of Painter’s Palette solids, use Manzanita Grove to reproduce a favorite quilt from the second half of the 1800s or create a whole new look in a modern design.
“Manzanita Grove, A Red and Green Sampler” Block of the Month Program is available to quilt shops.

Tiara
Designed by Barbara J Eikmeier for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. Released Spring 2018Prints in the collection: 12
About the collection: The Tiara collection features splashy flowers in large, medium and small scales with companion tonal prints of vines and dots. Reproduced from salesman samples of silk and silk-like rayons that were discovered in an antique quilt, these prints were popular in home sewing in the first half of the 20th century. All prints were reproduced in the original scale and colors and printed on 100% cotton instead of the silky fabrics of days past. Surprisingly modern looking, the prints will sew into a charming quilt or garments for today's sewer.
